Don’t say…

Don’t say,
'forget it’,
never ever.

For, from the rage
against forgetfulness
comes forth;
madness, poetry
and the like.

And hence,
don’t say
‘forget it’,
never ever.

Reading this piece, the rhythm of the lines corrected itself slightly in the following manner in my mind:

Don’t say,
'forget it’,
never ever.

From the rage
against forgetfulness,
there emerges
madness, poetry
and the like.

Don’t you ever say
‘forget it’,
never never ever.

i have felt like correcting Shakespear also, whenever I read him. he could have written better if he had a listening ear, like...well, some of the less known poets.

Ha ha ha…I’ve heard that Basheer’s first publisher had changed everything he wrote in ‘proper’ Malayalam. Hunthrappi Bussatto!

chattukaala, buddhoose, irangeda veliyil...do you remember reading about Basheer telling this to his brother the malayalam munshi who pointed out grammatical mistakes in something he had written?
