It has been quite some time since we did this. The first idea I came up with, though seemed good then, seemed to have lacking clarity once executed. Then came this one. As usual Art Partner’s Ratheesh. Though I was thinking to post this one for quite some time somehow it got delayed. Yesterday Ratheesh made an alarming noise while going through agencyfaqs and when I asked him about it, he showed me an ad somewhat similar to this. That moment I decided; no more delay.

I was wondering what the next two stages of the evolution would look like. All eight slots showing boys and then...blank everywhere.
Are you working in some ad company? Nice work.
Nice work!
But not sure about its effectiveness. How to change attitudes?
great work!! wonder what the future will hold?
Venu Chettan: It’s always a challenge to get things executed. What may look like good initially may not look as good once executed. Even here, it’s not an actual representation of the ratio. I don’t think that it’s possible to represent facts with such accuracy. In each of the last four lines there’s only one girl, but the position is important. Thanks a lot. Yes, I work with an Ad Agency in Mangalore.
Bindu Chechi: Indeed, these kind of campaigning won’t help. What really requires is awareness programmes. Normally these kind of public interest campaigns appear only in media which is read/viewed by the urban populace and created by advertising agencies with an eye on awards. But female foeticide/ infanticide is widely prevalent in rural areas as well. Some of the practices they adopt to kill newborn babies will put even the barbarians to shame. There was a single line advertisement a couple of years back. It read: “Kalpana Chawla’s brother runs a small shop in Karnal.”
Sujataji: Thanks a ton. Don’t worry much about the future. As per the Mayan Calendar things will come to an end by 2012, ha ha ha.
impressive
but not true of kerala, if we go by statistics.
Thanks Maa’m. The statistics given are true of the nation as a whole; in Kerala it’s still the females who outnumber males, right?
