‘I LOVE YOU’

We sat there
against the purple sky
face to face
flowing into each other.

Then, you let out;
‘I LOVE YOU’.
Those three words,
like three giant pillars
in an ancient temple,
fell upon me,
leaving me dead
spewing blood.

i am reminded of a Basheer short story. you will remember the details better than me, because i had read it a long time ago. was its title 'anuragathinte dinangal'? after several days of exchanging hearts from a distance, the hero could not bear it any longer. he risks everything and jumps over the wall. then comes the sublime moment when he takes her into his arms and hugs her.
"hentummaa," she heaves a sigh of ecstacy...
what happens next? do you remember?

nice poem, Arun.

Sorry Venu Chettan, I don't remember. Sumi will tell us, I guess. Thanks a lot.

Sumi: Tell us please, won't you?

Bindhu Chechi: Yes, powerful enough to be destructive.Where have you been for so long?

when you go on this tangent..I really dont get it.. I think it becomes too symbolical for me..am not much of a poet I guess..but even my ignorance cant stop me from feeling the power in the lines!!

Love, like God, ceases to exist when one says it aloud.....

Venu Chettan: 30 years! Still, you did!

Sujataji: I think may be you are trying to find out more than what I’d intended to say. Believe me it’s just simple. I don’t call these pieces poetry. These are my hallucinations.

Balan Sir: That’s poetry! You’ve reiterated my belief that reading is as or more creative than writing.

It's quite a powerful feeling, yes...

well, its very unpoetic that happens in the story. if i tell it here , it will kill the feel of this poem u have written. u must read the book sometime. :)
